Framed Drypoint. Number 4 from an edition of 15.
Oscar and Eric Ozymandius are two free diving brothers, creations of the awe-inspiringly talented Brian McKenzie. An artwork of this quality and detail is rare and extraordinary in the British contemporary art world. When observing it, one cannot fathom that it is from our time as feels so beautifully removed. Looking at it takes us on a journey.
"Drypoint is a favourite and beautifully simple technique where I make a plate by scratching with a very sharp drawing tool into an appropriate material. I mostly use aluminium or polycarbonate. The process allows wonderful, direct control. The scratched lines have a rough blurry quality that produces wonderfully inky, rich and luscious prints. I also use other materials like glue or caborundum powder on drypoint plates to hold ink in a particular ways." Brian McKenzie
"Simple" to Brian, incredible to the viewer.
