Mark Melvin’s work takes the viewer on a uniquely personal retrospective, through phrases that progress in the mind long after leaving the work. They remain in the consciousness and unlock subjective memories, taking on different meanings, creating a philosophical debate with ones own experiences and reflections. At first the viewer deciphers and contemplates the message from the artist but then the phrases imbed and remain in the mind. Words lead to personal journeys where meaning shifts and thoughts and reflection change. Words do not become quotes but mantras that lead to self discovery, contemplation and development. Art is about life and Melvin’s works become a part of the viewers.
